Default Appointments

Hi

Im new on this forum, but would like to share some of my experiences with you and hope to get some feedback (positive& negative).

I strongly believe that a SO should be appointed by a Managers that are off-site and not by a Project Manager/ Site Manager/ Construction Manager who are on site. The duties and responsibilities are suppressed by the Managers who are on site. They appoint you as a SO and thereafter intimadate you to do what they feel are safe???

There are many tasks that go chanched by employees because the are instructed to work unsafe by their Managers...to get the job done. In many instances these Managers get pass their accountability because of the so-called protection from their bosses.

Its alarming to note that its happening everywhere in construction due to the majority of employees being workforce labour.

Its common cause that production if pitted over safety, but what is being done to reverse the situation and protect injuties and fatalities.

We have forums, workshops and on-site induction & training that shows positive committment from the companies, but what are their safety budget vs profit... ... ...
